چکیده

the present investigation was conducted to study the effects of experimental clostridium perfringens type d enterotoxaemia in teddy goats. clinical signs started to appear after 30 min of experimental infection like anorexia, diarrhea, dehydration, frothing and dyspnea. gross lesions consisted of severe congestion in tissues of varying intensity with enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes while histological examination revealed edema of lungs, kidney, and lymph nodes and to some extent in brain along with hemorrhages inlungs and intestines. clostridium perfringens type d carrying alpha and epsilon toxin genes were amplified with amplicon size about 247 bp and 665 bp, respectively. human erythrocytes showed the highest hemolysis, 68%, followed by mice, 57%, against culture supernatants. the percentage of hemolysis was significantly higher at 37°c as compared to 25°c except for rabbit and dog.

Clostridium perfringens Type D Enterotoxaemia in the Chinkara Deer (Gazella bennettii)

During an enterotoxaemia outbreak, 9 out of 11 (82%) Chinkara deer (Gazella bennettii) died; 5 animals died of peracute disease, whereas acute death was observed in 4 animals. The case fatality rate was 100%. Clinical signs, including high temperature, depression, anorexia, abdominal pain, greenish watery diarrhoea, and respiratory distress, were recorded in the affected deer. Postmortem examin...

Prevalence and pathological findings of cholelithiasis in goats

BACKGROUND: Gallstones are concretions that form in the biliary system. There are two major types of gallstones (pigment and cholesterol), which seem to form due to distinctly different pathogenic mechanisms. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and chemical composition of gallstones in goats. Bacteriologic analysis and pathological findings were reviewed. METHODS:...

Evaluation of plant - produced Clostridium perfringens type D epsilon toxoid in a vaccine against enterotoxaemia in sheep

Enterotoxaemia (commonly known as pulpy kidney disease) is a disease of economic importance in sheep, with a mortality rate of between 10% and 30% in non-vaccinated lambs. Although it also affects calves and goats, the symptoms are less severe, causing a non-fatal subacute disease (Morris et al. 2012). The disease is precipitated when sheep are fed a rich ration, such as green pastures, or if t...

In silico fusion of epsilon and beta toxin genes of Clostridium perfringens types D and B

Fusion protein technology represents the strategy to achieve rapid, efficient, and cost-effective proteinexpression. Epsilon and Beta toxins are the most potent Clostridial toxins and cause disease in animals. This study describes in silico fusion of Clostridium perfringens types D and B epsilon and beta toxin genesthat was used for cloning in E.coli. The etx and cpb genes were...
